Why is animal sacrifice wrong?
All world faiths preach compassion and agree that killing animals is pointless and inhumane. Using weapons to kill animals is also against the law. Every faith promotes compassion.
Because it normalises killing and desensitises youth to animal maltreatment, animal sacrifice is bad for everyone.
What do the statutes and judgments state?
Many states already have legislation in existence that forbid the religious sacrifice of any animal in any temple or inside its grounds, including Gujarat, Kerala, Puducherry, and Rajasthan. Additionally, animal sacrifice is not permitted in any public house of worship or adoration, its immediate vicinity, or during any gathering or procession associated with religious observance on a public roadway in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana.
Animals may only be slaughtered in areas established in line with the law, according to a directive from the Supreme Court of India issued on April 10, 2017, and the local authorities would be responsible for ensuring compliance. The Supreme Court declared on February 17, 2017, that it is unlawful to slaughter animals in violation of the Government of India’s code of conduct for the transportation and slaughter of animals.
What can be done to stop unjustified sacrifice?
Get the police to record a First Information Report if a law is being broken. (They are compelled by law to consider your complaint.) Additionally, you have the option of filing a complaint with the SPCA, the district collector, the district superintendent of police, the state animal welfare board, the Animal Welfare Board of India, or the municipal commissioner of the municipality where the sacrifice was performed.
Consider the following further actions.
- If you can, record the unlawful sacrifice that you are seeing on camera.
- File your complaint with the police and other relevant authorities together with the picture and video proof.
- Request that Section 28 of the PCA Act of 1960, which permits animal sacrifice, be repealed to the federal government.
Is there an alternative for religious celebrations without animal sacrifice?
Keep religious festivals peaceful and caring. You may provide vegan food to the needy, donate clothes or toys to a children’s home, work as a volunteer at an animal shelter, or leave out water bowls for stray animals in your neighbourhood.
How can animal sacrifice be stopped?
Please notify the nearest police station or the police hotline if you see any cruel or unlawful animal sacrifices.
Talk to people in charge about how terrible animal sacrifice is and what the stringent legal procedures are if you learn that an animal sacrifice is being prepared. Encourage children to observe the event in an animal-friendly manner.
You may also call your local SPCA or the closest animal welfare organisation for assistance if you need it.
It ultimately depends on the situation. Some situations may not need police intervention until absolutely necessary due to an adamant violent person. Make sure to be consistent and firm with your request to not harm animals.
